If you missed out on applying for the Baby Quest grant on July 15th, all doors to an IVF grant have not been closed yet. Get your pen and paper ready to make notes about the following grant and scholarship that you can still apply for this year.
First is the Pay It Forward Fertility Foundation, which on June 1, 2012 changed who can apply for the grants. Now, if you live in any state except AR, CA, CT, HI, IL, LA, MD, MA, MT, NJ, NY OH, RI, TX, and WV, you can apply for their grant that will help cover the cost of fertility treatment at a Society for Assisted Reproductive Technology certified fertility clinic in the United States.
They do have a few requirements including that the woman must be under the age of 40 when starting an IVF cycle unless they will be using donor eggs, or will be adopting a frozen embyro. Applicants without children will be given priority, as will those couples that have already spent monies on treatment. Any grant monies awarded will be paid directly to the clinic that will be providing the services. You must show financial need and be uninsured for fertility treatments.
I strongly recommened that you review their grant application and get it filled out and submitted to them before their August 15, 2012 deadline. Be sure to add Pay It Forward Fertility Foundation to your favorites so you can see what the deadlines for 2013 grants will be.
Second is the From INCIID the Heart IVF Scholarship which has a monthly deadline. That means that you can apply any month for this scholarship to help cover the expenses of infertility treatment. The deadline for their application is the last working day of the month. For July that would be the 31st, and for August it would be the 31st also. There are a few things you need to know before applying for this scholarship, so be sure to read their FAQ before downloading the application.
The first thing you should know is that you must be at least a bronze level member of INCIID before you can apply. This membership level is achieved with a $55 donation per year, but the benefits from this are many. You should know up front that you will be required to raise $3,500 through fundraising. I do believe that this is a wonderful opportunity for couples that need assistance with fertility treatment. By doing the fundraising (with the assistance of INCIID) you help spread the word about infertility, and also get to help support others that are dealing with the same issues you are.
Their are more grants and scholarships available, and I encourage you to look for them. I recommend using your favorite search engine and entering “infertility treatment grant” or “IVF grant” and see what kind of results you can find. For many that are dealing with the diagnosis of infertility a grant or scholarship may be their only hope of having a child. Keep your dream alive and start applying and searching today!
